Introduction and Assembly of Cartridge Mechanical Seals

Cartridge mechanical seal is a combination of 7 main parts such as moving ring, static ring, tension spring, auxiliary sealing ring, shaft sleeve, gland static sealing washer, etc. It can also be called cartridge type mechanical seal. The cartridge mechanical seal has been assembled into an aggregate, so it is more convenient and fast to install on the body, and the sealing is reliable.

The assembly of the cartridge mechanical seal is described as follows.

1. Assembly of pressure caps and bellows for cartridge mechanical seals

The pressure cover is connected with the bolts of the bellows, and there is a gasket between them to prevent the leakage of the medium.

2. Hard ring positioning of cartridge mechanical seal

First fix the fixing ring on the positioning sink hole of the shaft sleeve, then place the pressure cover and bellows assembly on the fixing ring, hard ring, wedge ring and rotary seat ring, after determining the position of the rotary seat ring, tighten the set screw slightly, the rotating ring and the hard ring are screwed together, and then take out the fixing ring, pressure cover and bellows assembly.

3. Facial correction of cartridge mechanical seal

When the rotating seat ring and hard ring are attached to the bushing, the verticality of the end faces must be maintained. In general, the runout of the end face is less than 0.05 mm. On the cartridge mechanical seal assembly platform, after tightening the fastening screws on the rotary valve seat ring, use a dial indicator to correct and tighten the screws between the rotary valve seat ring and the hard ring to ensure the verticality of the end face.

4. Adjust the compression volume of cartridge mechanical seal

The amount of compression of the mechanical seal assembled with the bellows is reflected in the thickness of the positioning block. However, some special users require a different amount of compression, which can be adjusted as follows:

When determining the position of the hard ring, place the water-retaining aluminum plate on the pressure cover on the outer edge of the sleeve groove that matches the positioning block (positioning fork), rotate the seat ring and the hard ring, and fix it on the graphite ring and on the shaft put on. When placing the positioning plate, the compression amount is the designed compression amount, and the thickness of the fork plate is the thickness of the fork plate. Changing the amount of compression allows the hard ring to move back and forth on the sleeve, and the amount of movement is the amount of compression that changes.

The position of the cartridge mechanical seal hard ring is the position where the aluminum plate of the pressure cover is attached to the fixing ring, and its compression is the thickness of the positioning block. If you change the amount of compression, the hard ring can move back and forth on the bushing. Displacement is a variable of compression, with forward compression increasing and backward compression decreasing.
