The Sealing Principle and Various Characteristics of O Ring Mechanical Seal

The O ring mechanical seal is called the O ring, and it is a rubber ring with circular section. The O ring mechanical seal is the most widely used seal in hydraulic and pneumatic system. The O ring mechanical seal has good sealing property, which can be used for static seal or reciprocating movement seal. It not only can be used separately, but also is the basic component of many combinatorial sealing devices. It has a wide range of application. If the material is chosen properly, it can meet the requirements of various sports conditions, and the working pressure can range from 1.333x105Pa to 400MPa. The temperature range can range from -60℃ to 200℃.
Compared with other sealing type, the O ring mechanical seal has the following characteristics :1) the structure is small and easy to disassemble; 2) both static and dynamic seals can be used, there is almost no leakage when used as a static seal; 3) use the one-piece O ring mechanical seal, which has a two-way sealing effect; 4) less friction resistance; 5) low prices.
The O ring mechanical seal is a kind of extrusion type seal. The basic principle of the extrusion seal is to rely on the elastic deformation of the seal. This causes contact pressure on the sealing contact surface. If the contact pressure is greater than the internal pressure of the sealed medium, no leakage occurs, otherwise leakage occurs. When used for static and dynamic sealing, the causes and calculation methods of contact pressure on the sealing surface are different, which should be explained separately. The sealing principle used for static seal is the most widely used in the static seal. If the design and use is correct, the O ring mechanical seal can achieve the absolute seal without leakage in the static seal.
